LRS and Zebra Technologies Announce Agreement

SPRINGFIELD, IL - May 31, 2007 - Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS), a leader in printed output management, announced today an agreement with Zebra Technologies Corporation to promote complementary products and services. Healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain management customers can immediately benefit from this alliance, which brings enhanced output management capabilities to the printing of labels and bar codes from SAP, Oracle, and other critical enterprise applications.

Recently, LRS enhanced its VPSX® output management solution with advanced monitoring capabilities to support direct communication with Zebra printers. The VPSX server can interrogate Zebra printers to check device status before delivering each document. Mark Goddard, LRS® Senior Manager and Software Architect, explains, “We’ve implemented the most sophisticated delivery/feedback mechanism possible with Zebra devices and believe it is superior to the support offered by other vendors.” If an error occurs, the originating application receives the same level of information presented on the printer’s display panel. Goddard adds, “With this solution, pop-up messages can notify an SAP user of ribbon-out, paper-out, overheated print head, and other conditions as soon as they happen.”

LRS Senior Manager of Global Alliances, John Runions, says, "LRS is excited to add support for Zebra devices to the long list of traditional office printers, production printers, and multifunction devices typically managed by our software. Today’s customers demand solutions that perform seamlessly in heterogeneous, multi-vendor environments. As an independent software provider, LRS is pleased to cooperate with leading specialty hardware vendors like Zebra Technologies to help our mutual customers optimize business processes.”

Jeff Tingley, Zebra’s Director of Global Alliances, says, “This solution provides our customers visibility into Zebra printer functionality and print job management. This enhanced integration elevates our printers further into the enterprise printing environment, while lowering long-term total cost of ownership and improving operational efficiencies.”
